Today, it is a city of more than 25 thousand inhabitants that encompasses picturesque villages at the foot of the Biokovo Mountain.

Makarska is one of the most famous tourist destinations on the Croatian coast, attractive for its nature and good climate, rich in tourist attractions and full of hospitable hosts. Makarska Riviera is a part of Dalmatian coast of Adriatic, about 60 kilometres long and only several kilometres wide, squeezed under towering mountain Biokovo.

Omiš is a small but lively town and port at the mouth of the Cetina River in the littoral of Poljica, 26 km southeast of Split.
